Birgit Ludwig will take over the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Swiss Life Asset Managers and member of the Executive Committee as of 1 January 2026. She succeeds Robin van Berkel, who will be handing over his function as COO as part of a long-term succession planning.
Birgit has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. For the past 10 years, she has held various COO functions at BlackRock Asset Management in Zurich, Frankfurt and London.
In her new role, Birgit will report directly to Per Erikson, Group CIO of Swiss Life. She will also become a member of the Executive Committee of Swiss Life Asset Managers and, as COO, will also be responsible for the further development and transformation of the organisation as part of the growth strategy as a European asset manager.
Robin van Berkel will step down as COO as of 1 January 2026 and no longer sit on the Executive Committee. However, he will continue to work as Managing Director for Swiss Life Asset Management Ltd, the Swiss fund management company, with a reduced level of employment. He will also apply his knowledge of national and international asset management to various initiatives and projects. Robin van Berkel will continue to report directly to Per Erikson.
